Though Jamie Foxx won the coveted lead part of Django in Quentin Tarantino's new spaghetti-western style-film Django Unchained, the role initially almost went to Will Smith - but, after a month of debating whether or not to take the role, he turned it down. In a recent interview with Empire, Smith explained why: "I came really close...I was in the middle of Men in Black 3 and [Tarantino] was ready to go, and I just couldn't sit with him and get through the issues, so I didn't want to hold him up," he said.
Despite the scheduling conflicts, however, Smith is still confident in the movie. "That thing's going to be ridiculous. It is a genius screenplay." Well, the Fresh Prince has spoken.
