It’s been quite a few years since director extraordinaire Oliver Stone has dabbled in the world of seedy, blood-spilling crime—eighteen years, in fact, dating back to when Stone directed Natural Born Killers. But on July 6th, through Universal Pictures, the three-time Academy Award winner (including two Best Director trophies for Born on the Fourth of July and Platoon) returns to the dangers of law-breaking in Savages, one of our most anticipated movies of the summer.

Based on the 2010 novel written by Don Winslow, Savages stars Taylor Kitsch (Battleship) and Aaron Johnson (Kick-Ass) as Chon and Ben, roommates who earn loads of cash growing pot and share a beautiful girlfriend, Ophelia (played by Blake Lively). As their business grows, the partners run afoul of the Mexican drug cartel, led by Salma Hayek and Benicio del Toro, and when Ophelia gets kidnapped by their new enemies, Chon and Ben take action, guns loaded.

Over the next five weeks, Complex is teaming up with Universal to debut the Oliver Stone-directed “Interrogation Series” videos highlighting Aaron Johnson’s character, Ben. In the first of the series, which you can watch above, Ben dodges a few probing questions like a pro.

To learn about the rest of the Savages characters, head on over to LA Confidential for “Chon” (Kitsch), AskMen for “Ophelia” (Lively), HuffPost Entertainment for “Lado” (del Toro), and Made Man for “Elena” (Hayek). And see how it all goes down on July 6th, when Savages, which you can learn more about the movie’s official site, opens in theaters nationwide.
