As you've more than likely already heard or noticed, three of the most popular online services—Instagram, Pinterest, and Netflix—have gone down. The outage occurred last night at 11:21 PM EST leaving many to wonder what the hell happened. According to Forbes, the reason for the disruption was a crash at Amazon's Elastic Compute Cloud in North Virginia. The area was hit by a severe thunder storm with torrential downpours and heavy winds. The Amazon crash was simply apart of wider spread power outages in the D.C. area.
Out of the three services, as of 11 AM EST, only Pinteret has gotten its operations back up. Forbes has a full play-by-play of the outage on its site.
