After being exposed last week for never receiving a Computer Science degree listed on his resume, Scott Thompson will no longer serve as Yahoo’s CEO. Roy Bostock also stepped down as company Chairman, as it was his board of directors that failed to perform the sufficient background check on Thompson.

Thompson famously got the gig by simply asking the board for it, following his stint at Paypal. His replacement is Ross Levinson, the former head of News Corp.’s Fox Interactive Media who pulled the trigger on the company’s now laughable $580 million purchase of Myspace in July 2005. He also scored a $900 million search deal for Myspace from Google (though Myspace didn’t get much of the money since traffic milestones weren’t met), but quickly left the company afterwards.

Levinson will be Yahoo’s sixth CEO in the last five years.
