Trailer Park: "The Bourne Legacy" Tries To Prove That You Don't Need Matt Damon In Order To Work

He may not be the original Bourne, but he sure punches like him.

When it was revealed that Matt Damon would not be returning for a fourth Bourne movie, Universal Pictures was put in quite a quandary. Would it reboot the series with a different actor, or continue the Bourne franchise without its main character? Well, the studio decided to take a risk by casting Jeremy Renner as Aaron Cross, a brand-new secret agent character in the same style as the original Bourne. Thus, The Bourne Legacy was created.

Some fans of the original series might be skeptical of this relaunch, but this new trailer for the movie proves that there is nothing to worry about. The Bourne Legacy looks to have everything that made the Damon versions work so well: car chases, shootouts, fistfights, explosions, a damsel in distress, and plenty of conspiracy jargon.

With Hollywood currently obsessed with comic book adaptations, the spy/espionage genre has been all but forgotten about. But with a strong story, and the brilliant Edward Norton playing the role of an evil government mastermind, we can't help but be hopeful that The Bourne Legacy will reignite people's love for these types of movies.

The Bourne Legacy will be released in theaters on August 3.
