THQ revealed that they've pushed back the release of South Park: The Stick of Truth from late 2012 to some time in the first quarter of 2013. THQ said they still expected Stick of Truth to be released in the fiscal 2013 year, which means sometime before April 1st.

South Park: The Stick of Truth joins an ever-expanding list of games being pushed out of the holiday 2012 release window into 2013. Bioshock Infinite, Tomb Raider, and Ni No Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch are just a few of the games that announced delays in the past month.

The delay was "announced" as part of the publisher's recent investor report, alongside news that the company planned to lay off 20-30 employees across many projects, including the South Park RPG. The layoffs may have played a key role in the decision to delay the game's release.

Considering THQs current financial woes, it makes sense that the publisher would want to avoid releasing games during the incredibly crowded holiday season, opting to let the game release early in the year when there's less competition.
