The Planet of the Apes sequels have given birth to some of the longest and most frustrating movie titles that we have ever come across. But thankfully, 2011's Rise of the Planet of the Apes was so fresh and exciting that we'll forgive the grammatically infuriating name. And according to Box Office Mojo, 20th Century Fox already has the title set for a sequel to the movie that follows in the great Apes tradition: Dawn of the Planet of the Apes. The website is also reporting that the movie will be released on May 23, 2014.

Director Rupert Wyatt and star Andy Serkis will both be returning for this installment, which will be written by Contagion scribe, Scott Z. Burns. The ending of Rise pointed towards a potentially apocalyptic scenario for the human race, and that's just how the apes like it. Frankly, we can't wait to see where this franchise is heading, but we still have a long journey ahead of us.
