Google dedicated its homepage Doodle to archaeologist Howard Carter today and (probably) not so coincidentally, search queries for Carter have turned up traces of Google’s looming “semantic search” on the right side of the results page. The feature is aimed at revolutionizing the search engine by generating answers and facts, not just the most popular links carrying the search term. Though, as expected, it’s a bit underwhelming for now—it seems to be no more than an in-search Wikipedia. Yet knowing Google, it’s bound to evolve into something infinitely greater.
