Details Emerge On The Villains For “Iron Man 3”

Looks like we've got a good mix of classic and modern baddies for Tony Stark to face off against.

With the recent additions of Ben Kingsley and Guy Pearce to the cast of Iron Man 3, it was pretty much known that both would play villains in the film. But, other than our assumptions, we didn't know exactly how evil they would be. Well now, Latino Review has revealed some details on their respective roles that should shed some light on the direction that Shane Black is going in with this film. Remember, this report should be considered a rumor at this point, but this is a website that has broken some pretty big news in the past.

According to the site, Kingsley is indeed playing The Mandarin, despite Marvel trying to deny this at every turn. But even though The Mandarin is one of Iron Man's oldest foes, he won't be the main villain of the piece. That distinction belongs to Guy Peace, who is playing Aldrich Killian in the movie. Killian is the creator of a nanotech-powered army in the movie that goes head-to-head against Iron Man.

The most intriguing part of the whole article, however, is when the site describes the movie as, "a huge tech-James-Bond-thriller." Marvel tried to play up the whole superhero aspect of the character in the first two movies, but now it seems like we're going to get a story that closely resembles the recent espionage tone of the comics.

Iron Man 3 will be released on May 3, 2013.
