Many gamers were likely introduced to From Software's action RPG genius with last year's Dark Souls, but its predecessor, Demon's Souls, is in many ways just as good. And it featured similar multiplayer, which has players leaving notes for one another (to aid or trick), summoning one another for tricky boss fights and invading each other's worlds to wreak havoc.

Atlus, the game's US publisher, had previously announced that they'd be shutting down the PS3 exclusive's servers at the end of this month, but they've now redacted that plan.

"We're incredibly excited to be able to announce that the Demon's Souls online experience will persist for a while longer," stated Atlus VP of marketing Tim Pivnicny in a press release that went out today.  "While it originally seemed as though it would be unfeasible for us to continue to sustain the servers, a number of developments have made it possible for us to continue to invest in and support our fans as they have continued to invest in and support us and Demon's Souls."

If you're a Dark Souls fan and you've yet to delve into Demon's Souls, you'll be pleasantly surprised by its subtly different mix of combat, exploration and challenge. Are you glad the servers are staying lit? Tell us in the comments or on Twitter.
