After spending the last year appearing in special-effects driven movies like Mission Impossible - Ghost Protocol, Paul, and The Adventures of Tintin, Simon Pegg is going back to the world of small budget comedies in the upcoming film, A Fantastic Fear of Everything. In the movie, Pegg plays a successful children's author named Jack, who switches over into writing crime novels.
Unfortunately, he soon becomes obsessed with the idea of death and murder while researching material for one of his novels. Throughout the movie, Jack is seemingly followed around by the specter of a deranged hedgehog as he desperately tries to come to terms with his fears and paranoia.
This movie has the feel of most British comedies that we have seen as directors Crispian Mills and Chris Hopewell have captured a darker vibe that doesn't seem to rely on slapstick humor and sex jokes to get laughs. Instead, most of the humor will come from the disturbed mind of Pegg's character and the inherently funny nature of mental illness itself.
A Fantastic Fear of Everything does not have a U.S. release date yet, but we'll keep you posted on when it gets announced.
