43-year-old Elliot Moore of Rockford, Ill. was sentenced to 12 years behind bars for ironing a shirt onto an 18-month-old girl's back in 2010. Moore was the live-in-care provider for the baby's mother, and his piss-poor excuse was that he was struggling to iron with the child resting in his lap.

Moore told police that when the girl woke up crying, he noticed a large, open wound on her back. He attempted to remedy it by pouring water on her and placing her in a sleeper. The child's mother noticed the wound as she was changing her clothes.

Moore pleaded guilty to aggravated battery of a child, which carries a mandatory three to seven years in jail. However, because the child was a toddler, the maximum sentence was stretched out to fourteen years.
