Last week we reported that Lionsgate had a potential shortlist of directors in mind to take over the sequel to The Hunger Games--titled Catching Fire--that included names like David Cronenberg, Alfonso Cuaron, and Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu. Now The Playlist is reporting that you can add directors Francis Lawrence (I Am Legend) and Bennett Miller (Moneyball) to that list as well.

Out of the two new names, Lawrence has the most experience in the fantasy genre. He has dealt with dystopian futures before, and his knowledge of special effects and action scenes would be inline with what Lionsgate is looking for from this movie. He has handled big productions well in the past, so Catching Fire shouldn't be an intimidating project for him.

Miller, on the other hand, is more of a dramatic director who deals with intricate character pieces. But he is coming off the hugely successful Moneyball, and has an Academy Award nomination for Best Director from 2005's Capote to add to his credit. Out of the two, he is by-far the hotter name, and there is a chance that he would pull off the more interesting version of the movie.

With production on Catching Fire already starting, and filming taking place in just a few short months, Lionsgate will need to make a decision on a replacement for Gary Ross sooner rather than later.
