Five months after unveiling the C300, its offering to the Hollywood community, Canon is already doubling up its number of entries in the market with the EOS-1D C, a camera boasting 4K capabilities. That means 4,096 x 2,160 pixels at 24 frames per second—in a DSLR.
Originally dubbed “EOS Movies” when it was hinted at in November, Canon has delivered on its promise of a camera somewhere in the middle between the C300 and the film-student favorites, the EOS-5D and 1D X. With its $15,000 pricetag, the 1D C leans a bit closer to the former, though it looks almost exactly like its 1D X predecessor.
