After years of delays, false starts, and silence, Robert Rodriguez announced that Sin City 2 will finally begin filming this year, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Rodriguez announced the news during a panel at SXSW, but he revealed very few details otherwise. However, he did say that discussions with potential stars have begun.
The difference between this Sin City 2 update and others from the past is that now the movie seems to actually be heading towards filming. With the hiring of Departed writer William Monahan recently, the movie is further along now than ever. It is believed that the story will borrow elements from Frank Miller'sA Dame to Kill For miniseries, but nothing is confirmed yet.
