Because playing Battlefield 3 with Mario's music and sound effects wasn't enough, Youtube user Omega52 has whipped up a video of the game with some very old school sound design. The music is from NES games Silius and Batman, while the boom-booms and ping-pings are straight out of Contra and Top Gun.

We know we said it last time, but we'd probably be way more into this game if this was really how it sounded. In fact, we like this one even better than the Mario version. It's more exciting! And it's way better than the music we hear most players on Xbox Live blasting into their headsets while they play. LET THE BODIES HIT THE FLOOR, LET THE BODIES HIT THE—now why can't we get that out of our heads?

Do you think retro sound should be implemented in more big budget games? Let us know in the comments or on Twitter.
