Hasbro and Activision have announced a video game adaptation of the film adaptation of the non-narrative board game Battleship, because this is the word we live in today. It'll have aliens, shooting, strategy, and tons and tons of battleships.

The first person shooter/strategy hybrid is in development by Double Helix, the studio most recently behind the not-the-worst-licensed-game-ever Green Lantern: Rise of the Manhunters. In it, demolition man Cole Mathis will be tasked with directing a naval fleet in defending the Hawaiian archipelago from aquatic aliens. Does anyone else hear how silly that sounds?

At least in gaming, silly isn't always bad. Battleship is set to launch in May. We're looking forward to switching from battlefront shooting to tactical "Battle Command map" gameplay. Hopefully the whole concept floats. Any predictions? Let us know in the comments or on Twitter.
