Cali-based hip-hop indie Stones Throw—home to the likes of Madlib, J Dilla, Dam-Funk, and Aloe Blacc—has launched Stones Throw Digital Discography, a subscription service allowing users unlimited access to new releases and select portion’s of the label’s back catalog for only $10 monthly.
Via Drip.fm, subscribers can download 320 kbps mp3s without DRM restrictions. Among the first releases to hit the service will be Homeboy Sandman’s Subject: Matter EP, followed by the likes of Quakers’ self-titled album, the hip-hop group headed by Geoff Barrow of Portishead.
Hopefully other labels follow suit.
