Konami has released a batch of screenshots for the upcoming Silent Hill HD Collection, coming out in a few short weeks. The collection will bring together Silent Hill 2 and 3 with enhanced graphics, with a few additional side-quests in the mix.

Personally, I'm really excited for it, as a longtime fan of the series. I'm just hoping that enhancing the graphics and textures of these games doesn't alter the fragile atmosphere. They're founded on solid gameplay mechanics, but these are some of the best examples of games that play differently in the dark. Silent Hill 2 by itself has arguably one of the best openings in video games. It's so mysterious and at the same time precise, that it's just numbing to see atmosphere handled so beautifully in a game.

Aside from that, this will probably be the game that breaks me from the dry release period of December and January. Hopefully, it will do the same for you, and get you to February and March when Max Payne 3, Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City, and everything else starts milking our wallets again.
