Tony Hawk may have dropped the news a little ahead of time at last night's Spike TV Video Game Awards, but that doesn't make us any less excited for Tony Hawk's Pro Skater HD. Speaking on the red carpet, Hawk revealed that the game, coming in the first half of 2012, will combine levels from the original two titles in the series, Tony Hawk's Pro Skater and Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2.

The game's announcement during the actual show was a little underwhelming, though (maybe because Hawk accidentally took the wind out of their sails), so here's the game's first trailer for you to sink your teeth into. Just don't try to recreate the series' signature physics-defying moves in real life, or you'll probably end up with no teeth at all.

Is this the right way to redeem the Tony Hawk series after the last few experiments with shitty plastic skateboard-controllers, or is it too late? Check out our awards recap for the rest of the winners and let us know what you think in the comments or on Twitter or Facebook.
