Remember in The Matrix when Keanu learned Jiu Jitsu by hooking his brain up to some machine and getting his ass kicked by Larry Fishbourne in some alternate reality program? Well, that isn’t exactly out of the realm of possibilities.

Researchers at Boston University and ATR Computational Neuroscience Laboratories in Kyoto, Japan, are using functional MRIs in decoded feedback (DecNef), a technique in which people can alter their brain activity to match that of someone already knowledgeable of a certain skill. For mental health patients, the technology could represent a considerable breakthrough.
