Rumor has it that Alan Wake: Night Springs, an XBLA title set to be revealed at the VGAs in a few days, will be bigger than your average downloadable game. According to IGN, Microsoft's Major Nelson recently stated on his podcast that "the game is actually a full-fledged follow-up."

"I've seen the game. I've seen the trailer we're showing, and even though it's going to be a downloadable game, it's not a small game," Spike TV's Geoff Keighley confirmed, saying, "I mean, it effectively is, I think, Alan Wake 2 when you really look at it and look what they're doing with that game."

This is great news for Alan Wake fans, since the first game ended on a bit of a cliffhanger—and that's an understatement. Do you think they're going to end up eating their words, or can a downloadable title really serve as a sequel to a retail release nowadays? Let us know in the comments or on Twitter or Facebook.
