The people from Storage Wars have a knack for turning a profit off useless junk from foreclosed storage lockers that they buy and then proceed to sell for significantly more than what they paid. It's a system that usually works out well for everyone - the sellers from the series make a nice chunk of money, and the buyers get some new stuff that might be pretty cool. One man's trash is another man's treasure sort of thing?

However, it's not terribly often that the buyers of one of the foreclosed units stumble across actual hidden treasure.

But that's exactly what happened when the people behind the show auctioned off a foreclosed locker in California that contained an antique chest, which was later opened it up to reveal that it was filled with $500,000 worth of gold doubloons that date back to the 16th century.

AKA, they found pirates treasure.

Dan and Laura Dotson of the A&E series made the sale to some lucky buyer for just over $1000, and then discovered the treasure afterwards. According to TMZ, the chest was so heavy that it took three people to move it out of the locker - which probably should have been a tip off that something pretty damn important was inside.

Oh well, live and learn...
