Providing definitive proof that kids don’t need smartphones—let alone should have access to anything beyond word processors—Microsoft announced Justin Bieber as the most searched individual on Bing during 2011. Rounding out the top five were Kim Kardashian, Jennifer Aniston, Lindsay Lohan, and Jennifer Lopez, proving men are still attracted to ass and the emotionally weak, and are still largely ignorant of Miranda Kerr’s existence.

Casey Anthony’s trial was the most popular news story, ahead of Osama Bin Laden’s death and the earthquake in Japan, so you know where society’s collective priorities are.

Additionally, it seems some search-fixing shenanigans went on as Xbox 360 was the most searched gadget all too appropriately on Microsoft’s property, as well as Mission Impossible 4 being tops for movies in a year when a Twilight movie dropped and girls ran the world.

And of course, “Friday” was the most popular viral video.
