While most Steven Spielberg fans probably can't wait until the bearded one starts filming on a fourth Jurassic Park or a fifth Indiana Jones flick, history buffs are simply salivating at every new bit of info that comes out about his upcoming Abraham Lincoln biopic, simply titled Lincoln. Well things just got a bit more interesting because Variety is now reporting that this already stellar cast just got an upgrade with the announcement that Mad Men'sJared Harris will portray general of the Union Army and the 18th President of the United States, Ulysses S. Grant

Aside from the fact that Harris is a great actor, it's his eerie resemblance to Grant that makes him the perfect choice for this role. He will join a star-studded roster of actors in the film including Daniel Day-Lewis, who is playing Honest Abe himself, and Sally Field, who will be playing Mary Todd Lincoln.

Along with this role in Lincoln, Harris will also experience some big screen notoriety this December when he plays Professor Moriarty in Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows.

Lincoln is scheduled to hit theaters near the end of 2012.
