When Apple visionary Steve Jobs' passed away, the news quickly spread that Hollywood would soon take the opportunity to create a biopic about the techie's innovative life. Sony Pictures immediately snatched up the screen rights to author Walter Isaacson's best-selling non-fiction book about the man — a work simply titled Steve Jobs. Those producers who are looking to turn Apples into Oscars are considering having Aaron Sorkin write the screenplay.
According to The Los Angeles Times, Sony will adapt Jobs' official biography, which will then be produced by Saving Private Ryan producer Mark Gordon. Comparisons have already been made between the as-yet-to-be titled biopic (may we suggest iSteve?), The Social Network, and Moneyball. Whether this will be the case or not remains to be seen, but it's no surprise that Sony has chosen to swing for the fences by signing the writer involved with both those acclaimed films.
Sorkin, who won an Academy Award for Best Screenplay Adaptation for The Social Network, hasn't made an official decision yet. Let it be noted that the late Steve Jobs once asked Aaron Sorkin to write a Pixar film, to which the scribe replied, "I can't make inanimate objects talk." Does that mean there's a chance that he may actually pass on the job for a few reasons? Or will he tackle the script in honor of his late friend?
