Quentin Tarantino's rogue gallery grows by one more, as the controversial director adds ’70s and ’80s pop-culture icon Don Johnson to the Django Unchained cast. The actor will portray a plantation owner named Spencer Bennett, who runs into Jamie Foxx's Django character and Scultz (Christoph Waltz) as they search for Django's wife. Much like Kurt Russell's character (who replaced Kevin Costner), Bennett oversees a stable of black slave prostitutes that he calls "ponies."
Word on the street is that Tarantino has been courting the Miami Vice and Nash Bridges star for several months, and it seems the actor has finally given in. Leonardo DiCaprio, Samuel L. Jackson, Gerald McRaney, Dennis Christopher, and the aforementioned Kurt Russell are also set to star in Django Unchained. If only we had confirmation that the sultry Kerry Washington will be playing Django's captured wife Broomhilda, then we can really circle the wagons around this project.
