What does it take to channel America's most iconic beauty, the siren who seduced the world with her famous curves and fragile charm, entrancing the world with her complexities and unexplainable allure?

Research, apparently. At least, that's how Michelle Williams claimed to have prepared for what may be her most challenging role yet, even among ambitious undertakings like Blue Valentine and Brokeback Mountain—playing Marilyn Monroe in My Week With Marilyn.

I'd go to bed every night with a stack of books next to me," she admitted to Vogue for its latest cover story. "And I'd fall asleep to movies of her. It was like when you were a kid and you'd put a book under your pillow hoping you'd get it by osmosis."

And by the looks of the first trailer for the movie, hitting the books paid off for Williams, who seems to have experty embodied the playfulness, desperation and effortless glamour that make up Monroe's still-inexplicable mystique.

The film will follow Monroe on her first visit to England in 1957, a trip that began as all business for the filming of Sir Laurence Olivier's The Prince and the Showgirl, and ends in unexpected pleasure, a week long romp with young production assistant Colin Clark (Eddie Redmayne).

Williams is backed by an impressive cast including, Kenneth Branagh, Emma WatsonDominic Cooper and Judi Dench, and can be witnessed in all her faux-Monroe glory on November 4, 2011.
