Director Zack Snyder, who is currently in the midst of production, has made a little casting change to Man Of Steel. Deadline reports that he has replaced Julia Ormond with the less well-known Israeli actress Ayelet Zurer. Cinephiles will recall Zurer's slinky frame featured in Angels & Demons, Munich, and Vantage Point, and she will now play Superman's Kryptonian mom, Lara Lon-Van.

No reason has been given why Ormond has left the movie, though maybe she probably found wearing a mo-cap suit as humiliating as Michael Shannon did. At any rate, this will be Zurer's biggest exposure to worldwide audiences to date. While we'd gladly put gold kryptonite in Russell Crowe's boots to share screen time with the Israelian ingenue, she'll be joining a pretty heavy duty ensemble cast that includes Henry Cavill, Amy Adams, Diane Lane, Kevin Costner, Harry Lenix, Christopher Meloni, and Laurence Fishburne.

Zack Snyder's Man Of Steel is filming this fall in Vancouver, and the neighboring town of Ucluelet, and will fly into theaters on June 14, 2013.
