The in-demand director has reportedly left Terminator 5 in favor of completing Fast Six, the massively successful installment in the Fast & Furious franchise. According to Deadline, Justin Lin is committed to taking Vin Diesel and Paul Walker to the promise land again since there's no script in place, as of yet, for Terminator 5. The director is still keen to make the two films, and has held the proverbial door open to a return, but only if Terminator gets delayed will Lin be free to step behind the camera.

While both are priority projects, only Fast Five has proven to be a bankable mainstay hit ($600m worldwide is nothing to sneeze at). The rush to continue the Terminator franchise is mainly due to the fact that in 2018 the movie rights will revert back to James Cameron, who directed the first two films, so producer Megan Ellison is now hoping to get to work so production can begin in late-2012.

In spite of the fact that Lin has held meetings with Arnold Schwarzenegger, and been working on new ideas for the Terminator franchise—can Justin pull of helming two projects at one time?
