Street View: See the Spot Where Martin Luther King, Jr.'s Assassin Was Apprehended

43 years ago today, James Earl Ray got pinched.

London Heathrow Airport (Heathrow Airport Limited, The Compass Centre, Nelson Road, Hounslow, Middlesex) is the busiest airport in the United Kingdom today. It was also busy 43 years ago on this date, especially so because of the capture of Martin Luther King, Jr.'s assassin, James Earl Ray. Rather than receiving hospitality from flight attendants boarding a plane to Brussels, Belgium, Ray was greeted by Scotland Yard officers. He should have known a phony Canadian passport would only get him but so far. His flight would be redirected to Tennessee where he would be sentenced to 99 years in prison. He died in prison, at the age of 70, in 1998.
