The NPD sales statistics are in for May and it doesn’t take a detective to figure out that L.A. Noire was the top-selling game for the month. Despite a rocky launch, Brink managed to capture the second place slot. Absent from the top-ten list (shown below) were any titles published by Nintendo and video game software sales are down 19% year-over-year for May. On the hardware side of things, Xbox 360 took the top spot, which it has managed to do for 11 out of the past 12 months, selling 270,000 units. Look for the industry to bounce back in June with Duke Nukem Forever, Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D and F.E.A.R. 3 leading the way. [via Joystiq]
