Anonymous and LulzSec Hackers Declare War on All Gov'ts and Banks

Operation Anti-Security (#AntiSec) looks to expose corruption.

These guys are on a roll today.

After increasingly frequent cyberattacks over the past few months, it’s inevitable that it’s come to this: in a memo this past weekend to its followers, LulzSec has announced its plans to declare “immediate and unremitting war on the freedom-snatching moderators of 2011”—specifically banks and governments.

Dubbed “Operation Anti-Security (#AntiSec),” Lulz is teaming up with its former competition Anonymous in its fight to ensure, according to the note, “our privacy is not overrun by profiteering gluttons.”

The mischief seems to be generally well intentioned, as privacy concerns have arisen recently due to the likes of Facebook’s overbearing transparency and failing economies have led to suspicions of systematic corruption. However, the hackers’ efforts can easily force the hands of governments around the world to increase censorship and tracking in response.

Regardless of the outcome, LulzSec can walk away knowing they made “lulz” a household name, and, not to mention, reminded us all of the awesome that is the “Love Boat” theme.
