Our long national nightmare is over. Simon Cowell and Paula Abdul will re-team to judge The X Factor on Fox this fall.
"If Paula had not worked out, I would have canceled today," Cowell told reporters before the first day of auditions for the talent competition in Los Angeles on Sunday. "I could not have come out in front of you lot."
Despite their testy American Idol relationship, the pair will sit alongside each other during the series, as well as with fellow judges L.A. Reid and Cheryl Cole. Cowell also announced that Nicole Scherzinger and U.K. import Steve Jones will act as co-hosts. Because when it comes to singing competitions, it takes six high-profile hires to make it work.
Look for The X Factor (no dash!) to appear this fall on Fox.
