It's official: When The X Factor debuts on Fox in the fall, Simon Cowell will be joined by Cheryl Cole and L.A. Reid on the judges' dais. The network announced on Thursday that British pop star Cole—who was a judge on the British version of The X Factor—had won the coveted job, meaning she'll go from a "Who?" to "Her!" here in America in a matter of months.

"I'm so excited to be taking part in the American version of The X Factor," Cole said in a statement. "I just can't decide whether I am more excited to find and nurture the talent or for the unbelievable amount of amusement and entertainment I will have watching Simon doing everything and anything he can to beat me. He's tried to beat me for three years in the UK, and hasn't even come close. His ego must be so bruised. America is gonna love this."

Said Cowell: "I'm thrilled for Cheryl. She is massively excited about this show, and has been fantastic to work with. She is also a complete brat! Most importantly, this girl can spot talent."

Translation: Cole and Cowell are like Paula Abdul and Cowell, except Cole is way younger and hotter. Whether or not the rumors of Abdul also re-teaming with Cowell to judge the show are true remains to be seen.
