Well, it's going down.

The controversy over whether or not you get to use your iPad as a TV has officially reached the courtroom. Time Warner Cable has challenged Viacom-- which demanded its channels be removed from TWC's new iPad app-- by asking a New York District Court to declare that iPad streaming is protected under existing licensing agreements.

Viacom, for its part, is counter-suing, arguing that Time Warner "blatantly grabbed the rights that their competitors have negotiated in good faith to obtain."

Who will be judged the victor? The answer could have major implications for the future of cable.
