Drew Pearce To Pen "Iron Man 3" Script

The pen behind the British TV comedy No Heroics will "start from scratch" with director Shane Black.

Most fans of the Marvel action-adventure Iron Man thought that when director Shane Black (Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang) officially signed up to helm the project that he would also be scripting the third cinematic venture as well. After all, he's no slouch with the words, having written the scripts for Lethal Weapon and The Last Boy Scout. Now there's word that Black will step back to allow Drew Pearce to write the next sequel.

Deadline has the intel, but mentions that he [Pearce] will "start from scratch and work closely with Black." The scribe plans to structure the Robert Downey Jr.-headlined project in a different way—more real-world oriented and more along the lines of a Tom Clancy thriller. All post-Avengers releases, Iron Man 3 included, are being developed as "self-contained, single-character stories," with Stark going against terrorists and not CGI characters in metallic suits.

With that in mind, what are you expecting/hoping to see go down in the next Tony Stark tale? Iron Man 3 is scheduled for theatrical release on May 3, 2013.
