The only problem with pilot news? You get your hopes up for something that might not even happen. Still: Get your hopes up. Greg Mottola -- the director behind Paul and Superbad -- will helmAaron Sorkin's upcoming HBO pilot about the life of a cable news host.
Mottola -- who directed such television shows as Freaks and Geeks and Undeclared -- is pretty excited about the new job, writing on Twitter: "My new gig gives me a good reason to revisit classics like Lumet's Network and @canyonjim's more-relevant-than-ever Broadcast News." That would be James L. Brooks, if you were wondering.
Jeff Daniels is rumored to star in the pilot, which is reportedly based around an anchor not unlike Keith Olbermann. Let's hope this one goes to series.
