With the 4Chan known as a home for anonymous pranksters, Christopher "moot" Poole, the founder of the notorious web imageboard must have felt that it was time for a new venture.

At this year's SXSWi, Poole introduced his new web network called Canvas. Dubbed a web community, Canvas will allow people to post, share, edit, and mash together photos. What can one do with such a service? Well, you can give Justin Beiber a new face like Poole demonstrated at his presentation (Photo #2).

The site, currently still in beta, will take efforts to keep out the trolls that Poole felt populated 4Chan. The first step to do so will be to require people to use Facebook Connect to sign in. Poole to PCMag.com, "Facebook Connect…is really just the first pass at weeding out your more casual trolls…who might muck the site."

As long as the site stays free of dong pics, we'll give it a shot.
