Trailer Park: "X-Men: First Class" (Directed by Matthew Vaughn)

The long-awaited prequel for the popular series might succeed in setting a new tone for what seemed to be an exhausted franchise.

As we mentioned earlier, the trailer for this highly anticipated summer blockbuster surfaced on Facebook yesterday afternoon, and we can’t front: This shit looks dope. Yes, shots to past X-directors Brett Ratner and Gavin Hood, as well as 20th Century Fox, because X-Men: The Last Stand and X-Men Origins: Wolverine both sucked uncooked cow rectum. So is it our fault we had mingling doubts about X-Men: First Class? But after seeing this preview, which surprisingly lacks ridiculous explosion scenes and clusterfucking of special effects, we’re almost convinced this film has what it takes to rekindle the excitement we first felt with this franchise. Matthew Vaughn (Kick-Ass) does a fine job portraying the conflicting views bubbling between Charles Xavier (James McAvoy) and Magneto (Michael Fassbender) as they mold their strengths, while growing apart from their once trusted friendship. Vaughn also baits us with visuals that hint at a brand new world of full-fledged mutants both stans and regular fans can look forward to on June 3rd. Of course, all our preconceptions will have to get tested when we actually watch the film in theaters. So until then, we’ll be doing some background research on the actresses (Academy Award nominee Jennifer Lawrence, we see you!).
