That Time Madonna Called Whitney Houston 'Horribly Mediocre'

Madonna really fixed her fingers to write such blasphemy towards Whitney Houston in a letter.

For a culture that barely writes e-mails anymore, it's funny to see how interested people are in all of these celebrity-penned letters that have come to light lately. Recently, one of 2Pac's prison letters revealed to the world that he dumped Madonna because she's white, and now, a letter that features Madonna bashing both Whitney Houston and Sharon Stone is up for auction.

The letter, which was reportedly written to John Enos III (who was in Melrose Place Sex and the City, and a bunch of other '90s films), found Madonna venting about her career. It's currently on exhibit at "The EX-hibition," which is being presented by Bravo and The Museum of Broken Relationships, and while it's being called a "handwritten break up letter" to Enos, there's one particularly juicy bit about Houston and Stone in there.

"It’s so unequivocally frustrating to read that Whitney Houston has the music career I wish I had and Sharon Stone has the film career I’ll never have," Madonna wrote. "Not because I want to be these women because I’d rather die, but they’re so horribly mediocre and they’re always being held up as paragons of virtue [or] some sort of measuring stick to humiliate me."

Now, isn't Madonna the one who starred in Body of Evidence, the 1993 flick that dropped almost a full year after Stone blew up with Basic Instinct? And while Madonna's career in music is nothing to sneeze at, let's not act like a) her voice could hold a candle to what Whitney was able to do, and b) that Whitney didn't do the damn thing as an artist herself.

Just saying, Madonna made her mark...but it's insane to hear her call Whitney Houston and Sharon Stone "horribly mediocre." Twitter caught wind of this and felt the same way.

Madonna calling Whitney Houston mediocre is what every white woman does when they realize they don't have the range.

Madonna calling Whitney Houston mediocre is laughable because she literally made a career off of gimmicks as opposed to talent.

For those asking about the validity of the letter, Page Six is reporting that the letter was given to auction site GottaHaveRockAndRoll.com by Darlene Lutz, who was Madonna's former art curator. Page Six also reports that this letter is expected to go for anywhere from $3,000 to $5,000.

Here's a look at the letter. Note that the letter is written to "J" and signed "Louise," which is Madonna's middle name.
