Kanye and Jay Z

One of the most talked about parts of Jay Z’s new album 4:44 were his subliminal shots aimed at Kanye West, most notably on tracks “Kill Jay Z,” “Bam,” and “Caught Their Eyes.” Kanye has yet to say anything, and considering that he was arguably the most damaged by Jay Z’s shots, his silence speaks volumes.

But if you believe recent reports, it sounds like Kanye isn’t ready to take this lying down.

Towards the end of the newest episode of The Joe Budden Podcast with Rory and Mal, one of the co-hosts casually mentioned he’d spoken to Kanye in L.A. recently and claimed that “[Kanye] got a few words in response to what Jay had on 4:44” on his next album.

“[Kanye] wasn’t smiling,” he said. "He was smiling before that conversation started. He said some funny shit. He said, ‘Yeah man, I was next to Jay for years standing right next to him, why he didn’t give me no jewels he put on the album?’ He was like, ‘Damn he could have schooled me to all of this shit when I was right next to him.’” But Kanye hasn't taken Jay'z disses lightly. “There’s some malice,” the co-host claimed, suggesting that Kanye will hit back hard.

Listen for yourself below; the conversation in question happens around the 1:33:50 mark.

Jay Z and Kanye have more beef than a couple of pointed lines in an album, though. Kanye has reportedly cut ties with Jay Z's streaming service Tidal over a multimillion dollar dispute. Additionally, Kanye is reportedly hurt about how Jay Z's wife, Beyoncé, treats Kim Kardashian. In fact, Bey's supposed coldness towards Kim has been suggested as the main reason behind the two rapper's feud. It's important to remember that Jay Z and Kanye have always competed with each other and neither rapper has publicly commented about this supposed feud in any capacity.
