Kanye West Gifts Paralyzed Fan With Custom Yeezys: 'You Are an Inspiration'

Kanye hooked a young fan up with Yeezys, telling him his journey was an "inspiration."

Kanye West recently shared an empowering message with a fan who suffered a life-changing car accident that left him paralyzed from the shoulders down. Tyler Wesley, who marked the five-year anniversary of his spinal cord injury with an impassioned Instagram note back in May, also received a custom pair of the Yeezy Boost 350 V2s in cream white.

In the accompanying handwritten letter, West called Wesley "an inspiration" who was showing the world that "anything is possible." Wesley publicly thanked West for the gift on Instagram and Twitter Tuesday, garnering words of love and support from his more than 40,000 combined followers. West, whose social media accounts disappeared earlier this year, hasn't publicly commented on the gift.

According toTMZ, Wesley’s C-4 vertebrae break—the result of a rollover car accident—initially had doctors telling him he may never walk again. Wesley, however, has documented his remarkable path to recovery on social media. With the assistance of therapists at Craig Hospital in Colorado and a walker, Wesley has been able to overcome one obstacle after another:

"Years ago I thought my life was over knowing that I was going to be in a wheelchair for the rest of my life," Wesley wrote in May on the five-year anniversary of the accident. "But now, I am not ashamed of being in a wheelchair." Wesley added that he's grown close with other members of the "injury/disability community" and that hearing their stories has pushed him to keep going.

"Going from an athlete to being in a wheelchair since I was 15 years old hasn't shaken my confidence and who I am as a person," Wesley said. "I'm still that same person I was mentally, just a lot more knowledgeable, grateful, and have a way more appreciation for life."
