Chance the Rapper joined the View team Thursday for a lengthy interview covering everything from the recent racially motivated vandalism of LeBron James' Los Angeles home to Dave Chappelle's influence on his career choices.

"It's kind of a common pattern in America's history when people who look like me get to a certain point of success," Chance said of the troubling LeBron incident. "I mean, LeBron James is, to me, the greatest of all time basketball player, and people wanna remind you that, well, they view you as a second-class citizen. There's not much you can do other than keep thriving. Shout out to LeBron."

Discussing his self-made path to success, Chance cited Chappelle as one of his biggest inspirations. "I guess just based on where I'm sitting, I feel like that was the only way for me to get all that stuff done," Chance said. "I think it's important to let people know that, you know, even a person in my position, young black kid from Chicago, you can make your own decisions, decide your own path, say yes and no to what you want to. I learned a lot of that stuff from, before I even met him, comedian Dave Chappelle." Chappelle, Chance added, is a man "with a lot of integrity."

Chance also gifted the entire View panel with versions of his signature 3 hat:
