Beyoncé won Best Urban Contemporary Album for Lemonade, and delivered a passionate speech that explained her intentions for making the album.

It was only just a few moments ago that Beyoncé stole the show with a beautiful performance of “Love Drought” and “Sandcastles.” When she was called to the stage again, we were treated with a prepared speech on a golden card. She spoke about creating the film and the album to encourage children from all over the world that they can grow up to be capable and intelligent adults.

“My intention for the film and album was to create a body of work that will give a voice to our pain, our darkness, and our history — to confront issues that will make us uncomfortable,” she said. “It's important to me to show images to my children that reflect their beauty so that they can grow up in a world where they look in the mirror, first through their own families, as well as the news, the Super Bowl, the Olympics, the White House, and the Grammys and see themselves, and have no doubt that they're beautiful, intelligent, and capable.”

Shortly after the Grammys ended, DJ Khaled shared a new song titled “Shining” that features Beyoncé and Jay Z. It’s the first single off his upcoming album, Grateful.
