Chance the Rapper’s New Year’s Eve Headlining Show Canceled Due to Technical Issues

Flight issues and technical difficulties nixed Chance the Rapper's New Year's Eve headlining performance in Australia.

A group of Australian fans hoping to ring in 2017 with Chance the Rapper missed their opportunity, as the scheduled performance from the Grammy-nominated MC was canceled. The Origin NYE festival, which originally scheduled featured performances from Chance the Rapper, ASAP Rocky, Denzel Curry, Lunice and others, issued a statement explaining the cancellation.

“It is with great regret that we have to inform you that Chance the Rapper’s flight was delayed due to technical difficulties and as a result will not be able to perform at Origin NYE this evening,” the statement read. “Chance extends his heart filled apologies to all of his fans who are undoubtedly disappointed by this news.”

The outdoor festival was planned to last from 3:00 pm Saturday until 1:00 am Sunday in Perth, Australia at the Claremont Showgrounds.

In the wake of Chance’s nixed performance, organizers reportedly welcomed him back for a makeup performance. Judging from his recent tweets about New Zealand's currency exchange rate, Chance seems to be fond of the idea of returning to the region.
