After spending the better part of 2014 making somber music addressing his divorce from Paula Patton, Robin Thicke is back to making the type of uptempo collaborations that previously kept him atop the charts as he follows up the recently released “Deep” featuring Nas with the Juicy J-assisted “One Shot.” The pair trade drinking and dating strategies, as Thicke opts for Tequila, while Juicy J. prefers whiskey. It appears the song has been done for the better part of a calendar year, as Juicy J tweeted about working with Thicke and posted a since-deleted picture from the studio in April of 2015.

The track is featured on the soundtrack for Almost Christmas, which is scheduled for release Nov. 11. Both “Deep” and “One Shot” mark a return to Thicke enlisting high-profile MCs to help on his tracks. Collaborations such as 2011’s “Pretty Lil’ Heart” featuring Lil Wayne and “Meiple,” which found Thicke alongside Jay Z, were the norm before 2014’s Paula.

While no official announcement has been made, the release of two big singles could indicate a forthcoming album. In addition to “Deep” and “One Shot,” Thicke was recently featured in BET Soul’s Soul Story and performed at the TIDAL X 1015 concert. Check out "One Shot" below via HHNM.
