As the release date for Childish Gambino's new album Awaken, My Love! gets closer, he continues to surprise us with small bits of information. The latest treat is an update to his Pharos app. Early Wednesday morning, Gambino sent out a mysterious tweet directing his fans to the Pharos app.

Many fans may have also noticed that he cleared his entire Twitter history except for this one tweet. Upon opening the app, you can now see virtual reality concert footage from his Pharos event at Joshua Tree in California back in September. The footage is available on both iPhone and Android and can be viewed in full 360 degrees.

Gambino also updated his Awaken, My Love! website on Tuesday night with a number of options to purchase the album. This includes an album, a limited-edition poster, and even a "virtual reality vinyl." It's not exactly clear from the description on the website what that means or how the vinyl will incorporate VR technology. It is notable that the vinyls are not expected to ship until sometime in 2017, whereas CDs and posters will ship on or near the release date of Dec. 2.

What is Donald Glover up to? We'll have to wait and find out, but clearly, he's gearing up for the release of his third album Awaken, My Love! on Friday. With his singles "Me and Your Mama" and "Redbone" already out, anticipation for the new project is high. You can download his Pharos app now to check out the VR concert footage.
