The 2016 American Music Awards could be a huge night for hip-hop. Artists like Desiigner, Ty Dolla Sign, Fetty Wap, and Future are all up for tonight’s prizes; however, Drake is definitely the man to watch.
The Toronto rapper leads the 2016 pack with 13 nominations, breaking Michael Jackson’s record for the most AMA nods in a single year. (Jackson landed 11 nominated in 1984.) Drake will be vying for awards such as Favorite Male Artist – Pop/Rock, Collaboration of the Year, and Favorite Artist - Rap/Hip-Hop. Rihanna follows Drake with seven nominations. Adele and Justin Timberlake are tied for third with five, leading Beyoncé and The Chainsmokers with four each.
