On Tuesday evening (Oct. 4), Kid Cudi posted a heartfelt letter in which he bravely revealed his ongoing battle with depression and thoughts of suicide. He also announced he would be checking into rehab in effort to gain peace of mind and regain control of his life. Following the news, fans and members of the hip-hop community rallied around Cudi with their prayers and support; many praising the rapper’s honesty as a true sign of strength.

Now, less than a week after Cudi’s candid letter, Isaiah Rashad took to social media to readdress his similar struggles.

The TDE artist sent out a series of tweets Sunday evening that echoed his previous statements on depression and anxiety. He started with a post that mentioned Lil Wayne’s verse on Solange’s “Mad” track. In the song, featured on Solange's A Seat at the Table, Wayne raps about his anger, loneliness, and suicide attempts. ("Are you mad 'cause the judge ain't give me more time?/And when I attempted suicide, I didn't die/I remember how mad I was on that day.")

Rashad later stressed the importance of seeking help when dealing with these issues, just as he and Cudi did. He also reminded his followers that no one is truly alone, and that we all have someone who cares for us. It's a powerful message that helps destigmatize an issue that so many people struggle with.
